Target Audience

Faculty serving as coaches in the new MD student coaching program

Learning Objectives

  1. Differentiate coaching from mentoring/advising.
  2. Describe the Master Adaptive Learning model, competency-based learning, Entrustable Professional Activities (EPA’s), and self-directed learning
  3. Describe visioning exercises and how they can be used to scaffold learner’s efforts to make goals and set priorities.
  4. Describe how to coach others to write Model Of Improvement Aims.
  5. Summarize essential coaching and relationship-building skills.
  6. Practice coaching techniques with standardized students.
  7. Identify learning needs and particular challenges to coaching medical students.
  8. Describe program logistics, dashboard, and coaching contract.
