
Introduction to Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) for the Correctional Environment
In this session, Mr. Geoffrey Shapiro, one of the nation’s leading authorities on TECC, will provide an overview of this emergency response strategy and its relevance to the correctional setting.

This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, physician assistants, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals caring for incarcerated patient populations.

- Describe the Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) strategy and its relevance to law enforcement.
- Discuss the phases of law enforcement patient care delivery, including direct threat (hot zone).
- Detail the practical benefits of specialized equipment that might be of benefit in the correctional environment.
- Discuss the role for “triage” in a TECC setting.
