Biography:

Marc Garbey received his PHD in Applied Mathematics from Ecole Centrale de Lyon (1984) and a Habilitation à diriger des recherches, which is the equivalent of full professorship from the University of Lyon (1989).


Professor Garbey’s work covers multiple aspects of computational science in physics, chemistry, biology and ecology. In the last 10 years his interest has shifted to medicine and surgery thanks to a long term collaboration with our own dean of medicine Dr. Barbera Bass in general surgery and S. Berceli in vascular surgery. He has more than 200 peer reviewed publications and is the main inventor of 5 patents related to medical procedures and devices. 


Professor Garbey is the Scientific Director, Houston Methodist Center for Computational Surgery, and is also the CEO of ORintelligence, an IT healthcare startup based in the Texas Medical Center, Houston and a consultant for GW SMHS.
