Lesson 5: Harnessing Existing Data for Health Services Research

Within this lesson, learners will be provided with an introduction to the use of existing data sets and how they may be utilized by the health services researcher to answer research questions. 

Target Audience

This course is designed for healthcare providers including MD, PA, NP, nurses, rehabilitation specialists (OT, PT, SLP), public health professionals, pharmacists as well as researchers. In addition, students and community members who are interested in health services research are able to participate in this course.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

 

  • Identify sources of data that can be used for HSR
  • Demonstrate the ability to use existing data for HSR research (EHR, big databases)
  • Discuss how artificial intelligence is contributing to HSR
