Future of Pediatrics - Enduring

In light of the newly released obesity guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics, pediatricians need practical information on how to incorporate them into their practice. As childhood obesity impacts over 20% of the children we serve, this program will assist pediatricians in incorporating these recommendations into their daily practices.

Pediatricians will understand and apply best practices in identifying and treating obesity and weight-related conditions in primary care.

Target Audience

This annual Future of Pediatrics CME program is targeted towards community-based primary care pediatric practitioners (and key office staff) in the region (DC, Maryland & Virginia).

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this CME activity, primary care pediatricians will develop knowledge & strategies to incorporate new AAP obesity guidelines into practice, including:

  • Better understand how to engage patients and caregivers on the often-sensitive topic of weight and obesity.
  • Identify 'best practices’ opportunities for identifying, counseling & managing weight & obesity concerns within pediatric practices, including billing and coding.
  • Identify appropriate community resources/programs and referral pathways for patients requiring treatment outside of primary care.
