Health meets Food Conference 2025
Health meets Food: The Culinary Medicine Conference is a three-day gathering dedicated to teaching medical professionals and the communities they serve about the important connection between good health and healthy eating. Through a combination of hands-on cooking modules focused on helping transform the clinical experience, culinary skills-building sessions, evidence-based presentations and panel discussions we will explore the themes of this year’s conference.
Reboot of fundamental knowledge and focusing on food safety and the fundamental information around safety of food in the supply chain, treating food-borne illness, and contaminants in food.Challenges in culinary medicine and intersection of women’s health, food and nutrition including PCOS and menopause.Future of culinary medicine and current issues that impact nutrition in the food supply chain and its effect on the planet.

Learning Objectives
1. Identify the types of foodborne pathogens and their health impacts.
2. Understand the different types of illnesses that can be transmitted via infected food handlers.
3. Assess classes of environmental pollutants found in the food supply and their associated health hazards.
4. Discuss the role of nutrition in preventing and managing health conditions that disproportionately affect women (e.g., osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, obesity, and endometriosis)
5. Design the optimal dietary composition for PCOS
6. Recognize the impact of the agrifood system in the U.S.to climate change
7. Identify recent changes to the federal nutrition programs and opportunities for medical professionals to engage
8. Identify opportunities for innovative and actionable strategies to promote healthy and sustainable diets across the individual, institutional, and policy level
9. Review proper culinary technique and principles of steaming, poaching, knife skills and pasta shaping.
10. Describe the taste sensations of food and how that can impact flavor perception.
11. Review basic composition and health benefits of olive oil.
