
Women's Health, Reproductive Justice, and Mass Incarceration
In this session, Dr. Sufrin, reviews public policy and clinical care concerns for addressing the reproductive health needs of incarcerated women in U.S. jails and prisons.

Learning Objectives
After participating in this activity, clinicians should be able to:
- Review the background on gendered dimensions of mass incarceration and characteristics of women behind bars.
- Detail the mutually reinforcing relationship among poverty, health, reproductive justice and incarceration.
- Describe the unique reproductive health needs of incarcerated women including pregnancy, use of restraints in pregnant women, abortion, and contraception.
- Discuss some of the broader social and political complexities of reproductive health issues for this vulnerable population and their implications for all women.
