Danilo Acosta Diaz MD

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

The George Washington University

Learning Objectives:

  • describe the mechanisms of action of different topical hemostatic agents
  • understand the appropriate use, contraindications and cost of different hemostatic agents in order to make the best clinical decision for patient care.

Dr. Acosta Diaz indicated that he intends to discuss an unapproved/investigational use of a product during this activity:  Most data of hemostatic topical agents is limited in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  Their use is extrapolated from data from studies in non-obstetrical and nongynecologic surgery.
