Biography:
Dr. Spector is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Duke University, where he is the Vice Chair of Inclusion, Diversity, and Empowerment. He is the program director of the sleep medicine fellowship and associate program director of the neurology residency. Dr. Spector is chair of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee as well as a member of the American Academy of Neurology’s Diversity Officers Subcommittee. He co-founded the Society of Black Neurologists in 2018 and the AAN Underrepresented in Neurology Section in 2020. He attended medical school at the University of Michigan, neurology residency at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, and sleep medicine fellowship at Boston Medical Center before joining the Duke faculty in 2013.
