Oncology Patient Navigator Training: The Fundamentals

Through a collaborative process, the GW Cancer Center developed the first-ever, national consensus-based competencies for oncology patient navigators without a clinical license.

This comprehensive, competency-based training uses evidence-based information and case studies to prepare patient navigators to effectively address barriers to care for cancer patients and survivors. The development of this training was supported by Cooperative Agreement #5U38DP004972 and #5NU58DP006461 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention  (CDC) and is currently supported by Cooperative Agreement #NU58DP007539 from the CDC. All presenters and content experts who developed this training including Monique Dyson, Elizabeth Hatcher, Emily Gentry and Emily Quaglieri have no relevant financial relationships with ineligible companies to disclose.

Its contents are solely the responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official views of the CDC. The GW Cancer Center would like to thank the CDC for their ongoing collaboration on this program.
