Title: Rethinking Alcohol-Associated Liver Disease: Treatment, Timing, and Transplantation

  • Apply validated prognostic scoring systems (e.g., Maddrey Discriminant Function, MELD 3.0, and Lille score) to assess disease severity and guide management decisions in patients with alcohol-associated liver disease. 
  • Evaluate the evolving role of early liver transplantation in alcohol-associated hepatitis, including patient selection criteria, outcomes, and the limitations of the traditional “6-month abstinence rule.” 
  • Develop multidisciplinary management strategies to promote liver recompensation and prevent alcohol relapse before and after liver transplantation, incorporating pharmacologic, behavioral, and psychosocial interventions.
