Discuss strategies for managing borderline personality disorder traits in the medical environment

Summary:
Trauma is a common experience in the general population (50-60%), and PTSD affects between 5-10% during their lifetime. PTSD is often mistaken for other disorders like MDD, Panic Disorder, and Bipolar disorder, so clinicians will benefit from review of DSM-5 Criteria and understanding treatments.
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a commonly missed diagnosis, misunderstood, and stigmatized in the medical community. Individuals with BPD are frequently high utilizers of the medical system in part because of their medical comorbidities and their fraught relationships with caregivers. The audience will learn about the diagnosis of BPD, treatment, rates of remission, and techniques to help them manage patients with co-morbid BPD.
